Glenn Cuerden was born and raised on a farm in the Nauvoo area, and attended Nauvoo High School.
A graduate of the University of Illinois
and living in Denver, Colorado since 1960, he still has many ties to the Nauvoo community. Along with a lifelong career in advertising, design,
and photography, history has always
held a strong fascination for him. A collector of many types of memorabilia and interested in preserving
history
in all forms, he has recently devoted extensive research toward the 200-year history of the Nauvoo area.
He has designed advertising, created publications and promotions, and contracted as a location photographer
for a wide variety of clients and
organizations. Clients have included: the National Park Service, Colorado
State Historical Society, Colorado Dept. of Tourism, American West
Magazine, Leadville Heritage Museum,
Grand Teton Natural History Assoc., Fort Laramie, Colorado Photographic Arts Center, Bent's Old Fort
Historic
Site, University of Colorado, Denver University, and the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design
- among many others.
His photographs have appeared in approximately 20 historical books on Colorado, Denver and the West.
Glenn has won many awards through the
years for his design and photography, and has been exhibited in
dozens of one-man and thematic photographic shows. His fine art photographs
are in numerous
corporate and personal collections in the Colorado region.
He is a member of: the Nauvoo Historical Society, Hancock County Historical society, National Icarian
Heritage Society, Colorado Photographic
Arts Center (past president and board member), American Society
of Media Photographers (ASMP) (board member), Art Directors Club of Denver
(life member and past
president), Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design (advisor and occasional instructor).
